Donald G. "Tot" Lacey
...WWII Veteran, retired from H.P. Hood & Sons dairy; 91
TEWKSBURY - Donald G. "Tot" Lacey, age 91, a resident of Tewksbury for the past four decades, died Monday morning, October 20, at the Blair House of Tewksbury, following a long period of declining health. He was the husband of the late Esther E. (Donnellan) Lacey, who died in 1995.
He was born in Chelsea, on June 3, 1917, a son of the late Walter and Cicily (Soper) Lacey. He was raised in North Medford, and lived in Brighton for 19 years before moving to Tewksbury in 1965.
In his youth, he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps on projects in Colorado, South Dakota, and October Mountain in Western Massachusetts. During WWII, he served as an Army Scout with the 30th Division. He participated in several actions, including the Battle of the Bulge.
He worked in the shipping and receiving department for H.P. Hood & Sons at the Charlestown Headquarters.
Mr. Lacey was a devout Catholic, and a communicant and benefactor to St. William's Church in Tewksbury.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen D. and Sharon Ann (Adams) Lacey of Merrimack, NH, Daniel F. and Linda (DeWine) Lacey of Tewksbury; two granddaughters, Kimberly Lacey of Nashua and Jacklyn Lacey of Chelmsford; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mae MacDonough and Mildred Wilkes both of Sebastian, FL; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Arthur and Dorothy Lacey of Dover, NH, and Doris Lacey of Newton; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also brother of the late Robert Lacey, and Helen Wormwood.
His Funeral Service was held Friday, Oct. 24, in the funeral home. Burial with Army Honors followed at Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to Childrens Hospital Trust, 1 Autumn St. # 731, Boston, MA 02215-5301 will be appreciated. (Please note Mr. Lacey's name with gift. )
