BENSON, JAMES LOUIS
James Louis Benson, 82, of Goose Creek, husband of Zella G. Benson, died Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Trident Medical Center.
Family and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 2 o’clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, 303 S. Main Street, Summerville. Burial will follow at White Church Cemetery on Dorchester Road, Summerville.
Mr. Benson was born March 11, 1926, in Clarion, Iowa, son of the late Louis Samuel Benson and Thelma Louise Brannon Benson. Mr. Benson received a BS degree from Iowa State University. He served in the United States Navy and retired from the Chevrolet Division of General Motors Corporation as Manager of Vehicle Testing. He and Mrs. Benson have been married for sixty three years. He was a member of Dorchester Presbyterian Church, Summerville.

Survivors, including his wife, are one son; James Benson (Lynn) of Rockford, MI, one daughter; Kathy Allman of Ladson, five grandchildren; Craig Benson of Denver, CO, Joshua Benson of Coopersville, MI, Molly Benson Smead of Grand Rapids, MI, Sarah Benson VanSoest of Rockford, MI and Brett Johnson of Ladson, SC and seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by one son; Ronald Benson.
