Ottavio Sicari, of Medford, died Friday at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was 89.
Mr. Sicari was born and raised in Augusta, Sicily, the son of the late Sebastiano and Maria Sicari. Ottavio came with his family to the United States in 1955 and lived in Boston’s West End until settling in Medford. Ottavio was a highly skilled finish carpenter. He worked with Patavina Carpentry of Quincy for several years before breaking out on his own. One of his specialties was fine inlay and carving found in many churches throughout the region. He was a member of the Italian Marina Militare Society. Ottavio was a hard working and dedicated family-man who as a father and friend to his children, instilled in them solid values which help guide their lives.
He was the beloved husband of Italia (Perrucci) Sicari. He was a devoted father to Maria Noe and her husband Joseph of Michigan, Sebastian Sicari and his wife Dianne of Whitman, Lillian Sicari of Everett, Amedeo Sicari and his wife Maureen of Fitchburg. He was a loving grandfather to Sebastian, Linda, Greg, Lisa, Jimmy, Daniel, Nicole, Tony, Lucia, Anthony and a loving great-grandfather of 17 great-grandchildren. He was the dear brother of Olga Strazzullla of Italy.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford Monday at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden, at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family Sunday, 4 - 8. Services will conclude with entombment at Woodlawn Mausoleum.
