Dorothy McDaniel Sawyer of Cullman, Alabama, formerly of Tifton, died Wednesday, October 15, 2008, in Cullman, Alabama. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2008, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Silas Carver and Rev. Joe Wiggins will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Jackie Johnson, Charlie Youmans, Riobert Youmans, Ryan Youmans, Scotty Johnson and Bubba Sawyer will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 17, 2008, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Sawyer was born on February 4, 1920 in Douglas and was the daughter of John Henry McDaniel and Mary Hatfield McDaniel, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie William Sawyer; seven brothers; and two sisters. She was a homemaker and a member of Unity Tabernacle in Tifton.
Mrs. Sawyer is survived by five sons, Billy Sawyer of Abbeville, Wendell Sawyer of Hinesville, Vernon Sawyer of Leesburg, Danny Sawyer of Cullman, Alabama, and Henry Lee Sawyer of Zephyrhills, Florida; three daughters, Dannette Sawyer of Tifton, Joyce Johnson of Sumner, and Jennell Youmans of Cullman, Alabama; one brother, Eschol McDaniel of Tifton; 12 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; one great great grandchildren; and a special friend, Beth McBrayer of Tifton
