Marie T. (McMenimon) Murphy, 86, of Whitman died Sunday October 12th in her home after a period of failing health. She was the wife of Francis “Xie” Murphy of Whitman. Marie was born in Boston; she was the daughter of the late James A. and Hanna (Picco) McMenimon. She was raise in the Boston area and attended the St. Patrick Parochial School and the Practical Arts Grad School in Roxbury. Marie was a resident of Whitman for 40 years.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years Francis ‘Xie”, her sons Francis X. Murphy, Jr., and his wife Elva of Dorchester, Thom Murphy and his wife Donna of Milton; her brothers and sisters, Edward McMenimon of Stoughton, James McMenimon of New York, Katherine Parsons of Hull, and Joan Certrano of Waltham, 5 grandchildren, 6 great – grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Her services will be held Friday October 17th at 10AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow at 12:30 PM in MA VA Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours will be held Thursday October 16th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
