Mildred (Cerulli) Desmond of Medford, beloved wife of the late William J. Desmond passed away in her sleep Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at the Beaumont Nursing Center in Westborough, Massachusetts.
Born in Boston November 11, 1907 she celebrated her 100th birthday last fall with most of her family.
She was one of seven brothers and sisters, children of the late Pellegrino and Carmela (D'Assissi) Cerulli. Mildred’s other sisters ands brothers were Emma Rousseau and the late Edith Nutile, Louis Cerulli, Edward Cerulli, Thelma DelVecchio and Donald Cerulli.
Mildred was raised in Revere and settled in Medford where she lived for more than 35 years. She worked for Jeweler Harry Schaefer on Bromfield Street in Boston for decades managing his business affairs and designing jewelry. She was an avid reader and loved Opera. She and her husband, Bill a disabled veteran and MBTA Employee, travelled extensively all around the world.
She is survived by her sister, Emma, of Ladson, South Carolina and many nieces and nephews including Regina (Nutile) Mead who cared for her during her last years.
She was laid to rest at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford Saturday October 11, 2008, in a small private gathering.
