Obituary

FRANKLIN—Charles H. “Sully” Sullivan 68, of Franklin, a retired Franklin Firefighter, died Friday October 10, 2008 at his home following a long illness. He was the husband of the late Martha “Marta” O. (Sanchez) Sullivan who died in 2005.
Born in Milford, October 9, 1940, a son of the late Charles A. and Antoinette (Bertone) Sullivan, he was a lifelong Franklin resident.
Mr. Sullivan was educated in Franklin schools and was a 1959 graduate of Franklin High School, where he was an outstanding member of the football team. Following graduation he played semi-pro football for the Framingham Falcons.
He was a proud member of the United States Army and was honorably discharged on July 31, 1965.
Upon his return to Franklin, he joined the Franklin Fire Department, a career which lasted for over 27 years.
He interests included reading books about philosophy, and was an avid nature and animal enthusiast. He was also very proud to be a black belt in karate, a discipline he practiced everyday, and enjoyed coffee with the gang at the Honey Dew Doughnuts on East Central St.
He was a member of the Franklin Professional Fire Fighters Association Local 2637, the International Association of Fire Fighters and the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts.
He is survived by his daughter Laury L. Sullivan of Franklin, a brother Retired Franklin Policeman Robert W. Sullivan and his wife Sandra of Franklin and his nieces and nephews Maureen Sullivan of Oregon, Irene Sullivan of Brockton, Francine Sullivan of Franklin, Daniel Sullivan of Florida, Elena M. Menize of Medway , Marc D. Rovani of Franklin and Michael Sullivan.
He was the brother of the late Lucy Rovani.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family on Saturday November 8, 2008 from 1-5PM at his late residence 582 Maple Street, Franklin. Interment services will be private.
