Obituary

Mrs. Blanche (Stevenson) McGlashan, of Medford and beloved wife of the late George A. McGlashan, died at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading on October 9, 2008. She was 102 years old.
Born on July 28, 1906 in Brockton, Massachusetts, she was the beloved daughter of the late Thorwald and Catherine (Lays) Stevenson. Mrs. McGlashan was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Medford for more than 65 years. She had a lovely voice and was a long time member of the church choir. Blanche was a member of the Medford Women's Club and AARP. She was an accomplished seamstress, who generously made garments for her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, was an avid reader and traveled extensively with her husband. After George’s death in 1985, she traveled with tour groups from her church and with her son Robert and his wife and the Concord Chorale throughout much of Europe. She loved to do crossword puzzles. play scrabble and card games with her sons, her grandchildren and their families. Above all, Blanche was a real family person, always tending to her beloved children and grandchildren.
She will be sorely missed by her two sons and two daughters-in-law; G. Bruce and his wife Louise M.C. McGlashan of Medford and Robert B. and his wife Helen D. McGlashan of Concord, N.H., 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and a nephew.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday, October 14, from 5 to 8 PM. at the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford. Her funeral service was celebrated Wednesday, October 15, at 10 AM in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford. Many relatives and friends are respectfully attended.
