Anna (Bevere) Sarno, 95, of Walpole died Sunday, October 12, 2008 at Royal Rehabilitation and Nursing of Braintree. She was the wife of Alfonso Sarno who died in 1987.
Born in Boston on July 9, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Lorenzo and Louisa (Palma) Bevere.
Mrs. Sarno grew up in the North End section of Boston and had been a resident of Walpole since 1952.
Before her retirement, Mrs. Sarno worked at the former Rust Craft Greeting Card Co. in Dedham where she was shop steward for the union. She was also a lead-welder during WWII working on military aircraft parts.
Mrs. Sarno enjoyed volunteering at bingo with the Knights of Columbus at Medfield State Hospital.
She is survived by her son, Alan Sarno of Walpole, her daughter, Gail Longabard and her husband, Wayne of Braintree and three grandchildren, Wayne Longabard and his wife, Jennifer and Brian and Jessica Longabard.
She is also survived by a sister, Phyllis Doyle of Hyde Park and she was predeceased by four brothers and one sister.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral from Ginley Funeral Home, 892 Main St. in Walpole on Wednesday, October 15 at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Walpole.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
