RAYNHAM – Mary “Rose” (Fontes) Dupont, 96, died Friday October 10, after a brief illness. Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria Isabel (Correia) Fontes. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Dupont. She attended school in Raynham. She worked for many years at the former New Jersey Rubber Company prior to her retirement. She enjoyed traveling with her late husband, spending time with her family, dining out and tending her flowers.
Mary is survived by 4 daughters, Margaret Valadao and her husband John of Raynham, Irene Keenan of Braintree; widow of Robert, Rosemarie Muir and her husband Vincent W. of Raynham and Lorraine Raposa and her husband Daniel of East Taunton. She was also the mother of the late Joseph Dupont, Jr. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Edward Valadao, Maria Gomes, Robert Keenan, Katherine Reed, Vincent J. Muir, David Muir, Kevin Muir, Roger Muir, Michael Raposa, Susan Dykas, Thomas Raposa and Nancy Carreiro; 15 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, the late Antone Fontes.
Mary was a life-long communicant of Holy Family Church, E. Taunton and a devoted life member of the Holy Ghost Society of E. Taunton.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at Holy Family Church, E. Taunton at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, October 14.
