Linda R. Horne, 63, of Londonderry, NH, died Friday, October 10, 2008 in the Elliot Hospital, Manchester, NH. Linda was born in Exeter, NH on October 18, 1944, a daughter of the late Emile R. and Ruth N. (Martin) Purington and grew up in Epping, NH. She was a resident of Londonderry for the past seven years, formerly living over 34 years at Beaver Lake in Derry, NH. Linda was a longtime general manager for Lumbertown in Derry and Nashua, NH. She then worked at Whip-Poor-Will Golf Course in Hudson, NH and enjoyed golfing. Linda also worked in sales for Belletetes Lumber in Nashua for 15 years. She played darts for 25 years in various leagues in Nashua and Lowell, MA, was a member of the Halcyon Club in Derry, volunteered for Senior Dinners and handed out cocoa and coffee for the Christmas parades in Derry. Linda was also a member of the American Legion. She loved playing cards, loved animals and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially time spent at the ocean near Hampton Beach.
She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Jim E. Connelly of Londonderry, three daughters, Gretchen Meisner, her husband Kurt and their children, Nathan, Zachary and Matthew of Salem, NH, Heidi Horne and her three sons, Colby, Colin and Cameron of Manchester, and Holly Tate, her husband Jeff and their children, Hannah and Isaac of Goffstown, NH. She is also survived by her cousin, William Dickerson and his wife Martha and family, of Goffstown. She was predeceased by a brother, Ralph Purington.
Visiting hours were held 4-8pm Tuesday, October 14, 2008 in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, at 11:00am in the funeral home, with cremation following. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Derry Humane Society, P.O.
