Ralph J. Desrocher, Jr., 79

Ralph J. Desrocher, Jr., 79, of Mansfield formerly of Foxboro and Florida died on Saturday October 11, 2008 at the VA Medical Center in Brockton. He was the beloved husband of Maureen M. (Nelson) Desrocher.
Born in Westbrook, Maine on December 20, 1928 he was a son of the late Ralph J. and Mary (Mayo) Desrocher, Sr.
He grew up in Westbrook, was educated in Westbrook public schools and served in the United States Air Force.
Mr. Desrocher was a retired Waiter and had worked at the Locke-Ober Café in Downtown Boston for 10 years before retiring. He had formerly worked for 17 years at the Lafayette House in Foxboro and after moving to Florida had been employed part time at Café Europe in Sarasota. His friendly personality and professional mannerism made him a popular figure with the restaurants cliental
Ralph loved his family, was proud of his home state of Maine and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He enjoyed card games and was a great dancer who especially liked dancing to jazz music. When younger he was an accomplished biker and marathon runner.
He had made his home in Mansfield for the past 6 years and formerly lived in Sarasota for 9 years after moving from Foxboro where he lived for 20 years.
In addition to his beloved wife he is survived by his devoted children Brian D. Desrocher of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina, Alan S. Desrocher of Knoxville, Tennessee and the late Susan M. Ohrstrom-McSweeny who passed away in 2006. He was the dear brother of Patricia Thomas of Marstons Mills and is also survived by his cherished 6 granddaughters Stacy, Andrea, Danielle, Shannon, Alexi and Allison.
Services and burial will be held privately at the convenience of his family at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Visiting hours are omitted.
