WORCESTER-George "Uncle Dave" Rafferty, 80, of Worcester, died peacefully in his home, Friday October 10th surrounded by the love of his family. He was the son of George F. and Mary (Nugent) Rafferty and brother to Eleanor Rafferty all of whom predeceased him. He leaves 5 children whom he helped to raise in his home: Noreen M. Erickson, Sean P. Rafferty, Ellen R. Harrity all of Worcester, ElizaBeth R. O'Rourke of Paxton, Megan A. Rafferty and their mother Eileen Courtney Rafferty both of Worcester. He also leaves eight grandchildren.
George was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade School where he was an all city athlete in both baseball and basketball. He was a life long member and benefactor of St. Bernard’s Church. He loved to spend summers at his "camp" in Spencer Ma. George was an amazing human being full of love, who cared for everyone his entire life. He will be deeply missed.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 14 from FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 1 West Boylston St., West Boylston with a Mass at 10 AM in St. Bernard’s Church, 228 Lincoln Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours are Monday, October 13 from 4-7 PM in the funeral home.
