Obituary

James E. "Ed" Brogden, Sr., 77, of New Bedford died October 9, 2008 at Southeastern Mass. Health & Rehabilitation Facility after a brief illness.
He was the husband of June A. (Robert) Brogden.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Margaret (Brogden) Underwood, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Mr. Brogden was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
He was formerly employed by John I. Paulding as a supervisor for over 20 years until his retirement. In retirement he worked as a crossing guard for the City of New Bedford and at the Zeiterion Theatre parking garage. Mr. Brogden was a coach for Little League Baseball and youth football.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; 3 sons, James Brogden and his wife Pamela of Dartmouth and Robert Brogden and Joseph Brogden, both of New Bedford; a daughter, Doreen Brogden of New Bedford; a brother, John Brogden of Fremont, CA; a sister, Elizabeth Snavley of Jacksonville Beach, FL; his uncle, Bill Brogden of SanMateo, CA; 3 grandchildren, Candace, Joelene and Patrysha; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Tuesday, October 14th at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Monday, October 13th from 4-8 PM.
