Obituary

WORCESTER___Frank S. Winkiewicz, 91, of Greenwood St, died Wednesday Oct. 8, 2008 in Bolton Manor Nursing Home, Marlborough. His wife, Helena T. (Antkowiak) Winkiewicz died in 2002.

He leaves a daughter, Alice M. Guertin and her husband, Henry J. of Worcester; a sister, Jane Berling of Yarmouth; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and nephews and nieces. A son, Charles L. Winkiewicz died in 1994. He was also predeceased by three brothers, Roman, Victor and Joseph Winkiewicz. He was born in Worcester, a son of Raymond and Victoria (Wolonesewicz) Winkiewicz and lived here all his life.

Mr. Winkiewicz was an accountant 29 years for Mass Highway and retired in 1992. Before then he was a paper cutter for Hills Envelope Co. He was educated in the Worcester schools and attended Holy Cross College.

Frank was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church and was a former member of the Polish American Veterans of World War II. He enjoyed fishing, working in his garden and playing cribbage.

The funeral will be held on Monday Oct. 13, from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward Street, with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street. Entombment with military honors will be in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. Calling hours in the funeral home are Sunday Oct. 12 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Czestochowa Memorial Fund, 34 Ward Street, Worcester, Ma., 01610.
