Obituary

Michael Magaletta, of Medford, died Thursday at his Medford home surrounded by his loving family. He was 84.

Born and raised in Anzano, Italy, he was the son of the late Savino and Vincenza (Novia) Magaletta. 40 years ago Michael settled with his family in Medford and always considered it home. Michael was a hard working and dedicated family man. He enjoyed being with family and friends and especially loved the company of his grandchildren. He worked in Boston as a meat cutter with the former State Beef Company, until his retirement. His early life was full of travel. He moved to Argentina as a young man and met his future bride there. Rosa came from the same town in Italy. They were married and began their family in Argentina when after 12 years Michael moved to Australia for 6 years to help his sister. He then came to Medford where some family members had settled and was joined by his wife and children.

He was the beloved husband of Rosa (Rossi). He was a devoted father to Vicky Magaletta of Medford, Elio Magaletta of Medford, Carlos Magaletta and his wife Susan of North Andover. He was a loving “Nonno” to Michael, Adam and Matthew. He was the dear brother of Euplio Magaletta of Medford, Saveria Cipriano of Australia, the late Antonia Damiano, Maria Chiavuzzo, Rosina Mazzeo and Vito Magaletta. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Tuesday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday 4 - 8. Services will conclude with entombment at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, Malden.
