ROWLEY: Harriet A. (Olson) Rutchick, 92, formerly of Gloucester and Rockport, died early Friday morning, October 3, 2008, at the Sea View Retreat in Rowley. She was the wife of the late Meyer A. Rutchick, who died in October of 1971.
Born in Gloucester on May 30, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Steven and Hilda (Kristiansson) Olson. She was a graduate of the Gloucester High School class of 1933. She had resided in Rockport for over thirty years before moving to Rowley in 2004.
A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed braiding rugs and needlework.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law: Marsha and Daniel Perkins of Hamilton, Alida Rutchick of Honolulu, Hawaii; a son and daughter-in-law Ronald and Christine (Mione) Rutchick of Newburyport; her daughter-in-law Cynthia Johnson Rutchick of Magnolia; nine grandchildren: Ted Labrie, Renee Akina, Janina Pietsch, Abraham Rutchick, Elisabeth Rutchick, Lori Perkins, Julie Campisano, Amy Perkins and Benjamin Perkins; three great-grandchildren: Aaron Akina, Ellie and Maggie Pietsch; a sister-in-law Ruth, wife of Harold Levine; a brother-in-law Jack Rutchick; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was also predeceased by two sons: Michael S. Rutchick and Jeffrey W. Rutchick; three sisters: Gerda Cluett, Romaine Olson and Olive Morris; and a brother Jack Olson.
Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday morning in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St. Danvers, MA 01923. Interment will be held in the Seaside Cemetery.
