Mary A. (DeCristofaro) DelBene, of Medford, died Tuesday in the Glen Ridge Nursing Home after a long illness. She was 83.
Mrs. DelBene was born in Boston, and raised in the North End, the daughter of the late Carmine and the late Clarina (Nigro) DeCristofaro.
Mrs. DelBene grew up in the North End of Boston and lived in Medford for 25 years. She spent some time as a Malden resident, as well. Mary dedicated herself to her family and had a special love for her two grandchildren.In Medford, she was active in the Riverside Towers Club and the Italian Club.
She was the wife of the late Carmen DelBene.She is survived by her daughter, Marcella DeCandia and son in law Frank, of Malden.She also leaves grandaughter, Stephanie DeCandia and grandson, Frankie DeCandia;one sister: Anna Luongo of Medford, and several loving nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by a sister, Emily Pope, and brothers, Marzio, Jimmy, and Ralph DeCristofaro.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday 2-4 and 7-9.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, Friday at 9am.
Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
