Francis J. Doherty, 79, A long time resident of Lawrence, MA. died on Tuesday, September 30th, 2008 at the Sunbridge Wood Mill Nursing Home in Lawrence, MA.
The son of the late Francis A. and Beatrice (Casey) Doherty. Francis was born on October 28, 1928 in Brockton, Massachusetts and then lived in Lawrence for the majority of his life.
Francis attended St. Mary's Grammar School and also graduated from Central Catholic High School class of 1946. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Lawrence, MA. Francis was a Veteran of the United States Army serving his country during the Korean War. Francis was employed until his retirement as a Material Control Analyst for over 40 years at Raytheon Company in Lowell, MA.
Mr. Doherty is survived by cousins Mary Berryman of Lawrence, MA, James Casey and Kathleen Casey of North Vassalboro, Maine, Health Care Agent John Berryman and his wife Dorothy of Lawrence, MA. Also life long close friends John Chory of Seabrook, NH, Bernard Lynch and his wife Mildred of Lawrence, MA. Aimee Guay of Haverhill, MA, Rev. Father Robert Maloney of Holliston, MA.
He is predeceased by his loving wife of 36 years Catherine (McDonough) Doherty. He and Catherine enjoyed entertaining family and friends, playing bingo, going to Foxwoods Casino and Traveling especially trips to Ireland. He and Catherine were proud of their Irish heritage and were members of the Lawrence Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 8.
Family and friends would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at the Sunbridge Woodmill for the attentive care provided to Francis over the last three years and a special thanks to Cordelia Rondeau.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at 10:00AM. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Lawrence, MA. A burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence, MA.
