McCarthy, William E., Jr., “Bill”, died suddenly Sept. 30, at the age of 62, of Randolph, formerly of E. Wareham and Plum Island. Son of the late William E. McCarthy and late Catherine (Keaney) Tighe and her late husband Francis Tighe. Bill leaves his long time companion of 44 years, David J. Wenners and their two sons, Christian D. McCarthy of Dorchester and Scott P. McCarthy of N.H. Brother of Paul E. McCarthy of Marshfield, the late Sharon Keene and the late Kathleen Young. He is also survived by a nephew, 4 nieces, and dear friends Carol Bowen, Eileen Cerne and Gail Polli.
Bill, up to the time of his death, was a clinical specialist in Psychiatric Nursing having earned his Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree at Boston College. He was a clinical specialist in Psychiatric Nursing for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health at the Shattuck Hospital in Jamaica Plain. Bill was formerly a professor at Bunker Hill Community College and was an instructor at Boston College. He had also worked at various Massachusetts Department of Mental Health facilities in the Boston area. He also had a second passion in life, a passion for plants and animals which began at Jamaica Plain High School, agricultural and animal husbandry program, it continued throughout his life caring for a variety of animals and personal pets.
Funeral from the MacDonald Funeral Home, l755 Ocean St., Rte l39, Marshfield , Saturday , Oct. 4, at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at l0 a.m.
Visiting hours Friday 4 to 8 p.m.
Interment will be in the Couch Cemetery, Marshfield.
