LOWELL--Kenneth G. Hamilton, a resident of the Battles Home for the past four years, passed away at the age of 95 at Northwood Rehab & Nursing Center, Saturday evening April 5th. He was the husband of the late Ione (Brown) Hamilton.
He was born in Petoskey, Michigan, on Oct. 8, 1907, a son of the late William G. and Ethel Mae (Dennis) Hamilton.
Mr. Hamilton was formerly of Chelmsford, Annapolis, MD, and Buffalo, NY. He was self employed as a yacht broker. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve Auxiliary during World War II patrolling the U.S.-Canadian border on Lake Erie. During the War, he also worked for Bell Aircraft Co., on the development of Bell's King Cobra fighter aircraft and the first U.S. jet aircraft.
He was an avid yachtsman and three-time winning skipper of the long distance Freeman Cup Race on Lake Ontario.
Surviving him are a son: John D. Hamilton, and wife Martha, of East Longmeadow, a granddaughter: Kathryn (Kate) Hamilton, presently of Raymond, NH; a grandson: Kenneth Hamilton presently of Bangor, ME and four great-grandchildren.
