Obituary

Charles Edward “Ike” Ward, 76, of Summerville, devoted husband of 45 years to Nancy Wynne Ward died Tuesday evening, September 30, 2008 at Trident Medical Center.
Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, October 4, 2008 at 2 o’clock at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, 28 Sumter Ave. Summerville. Burial will be private.
Friends may call at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, Summerville from 6 until 8 o’clock Friday evening.

Mr. Ward was born December 28, 1931 in Bergoo, West Virginia, son of the late Arthur and Esta Casto Ward. He was a graduate of Dunbar High School, Dunbar, West Virginia, class of 1951 and Morris Harvey College, Charleston, West Virginia. He served in the United States Army, 11th Airborne Division during the Korean Conflict. He was an avid golfer, pool player, sports fan and was a former Sertoma Football Coach. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He retired from Wetterau Incorporated and attended St. John the Beloved Catholic Church.
Survivors including his wife are 4 sons and 1 daughter: John A. Ward (Tina) of Lebanon, TN, Christopher J. Ward (Lisa) of Cortlandt Manor, NY, Leigh Ellen Ward (Dennison Thomas) of Summerville, Michael P. Ward of Mt. Pleasant and Timothy S. Ward (Amy) of Redford, Michigan.
5 grandchildren: Jamie Ward McCoy (Joey), Zachariah Ward, Christopher James Ward, Mia Celeste Ward and Henry B. Ward
2 great grandchildren: Sebastian and Sarah Ward
1 brother and 2 sisters: Vernon Ward of Missouri, Pauline Ranson of West Virginia and Irene Elkins of Virginia.
