Elsie (Anderson) Stewart, age 84, of High Street, Mystic, passed away Wednesday at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Stewart was born in Minneapolis, MN on June 19, 1924 one of three children to Erik and Marie Anderson.
A longtime resident of Mystic, Mrs. Stewart and her husband were honored as the oldest living member of the Mystic Seaport where she volunteered in the Mystic Seaport Store. She was also a 52 year member of the Mystic Congregational Church where she was a member of the Women’s Fellowship. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, puzzles and also took great pride in her family.
Mrs. Stewart is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert E. Stewart; her children, Douglas R. Stewart of Groton and Kristine Horwath of Ledyard; and a grandson, Colby Horwath of Ledyard. She was predeceased by her siblings, Roy Anderson and Alice Greer.
A Graveside Funeral Service will be conducted at Elm Grove Cemetery, Rte. 27, Mystic on Friday at 1pm. Additionally, a Memorial Service will be held at the Mystic Congregational Church on October 18th at 11am. There are no visiting hours.
