Albert Elijah Denby, 79, of Tifton died Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at Golden Living Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2008, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Speaker John Ruberson will officiate with burial to follow in Cumorah Cemetery in Douglas. Gary Coker, Tony Coker, Michael Shawn Merritt, Terry Flanigan, Michael Bohannon and Charles Adams will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 1, 2008, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Denby was born on October 14, 1928 in Omega and was the son of James Berry Denby and Redie Alma Morris Denby, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Nadine Jordan Denby. He was employed with Jones Concrete Company for 30 years and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Mr. Denby is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie V. Denby Dean and her husband, Lewis, of Tifton; one brother, Ed Denby of Atlanta; two sisters, Ester Lee Yown of Monticello, Florida and Retha Baker of Thomasville; one grandson and his wife, Tyrone and Zoe Heath Dean; and two great granddaughters, Charlotte Ann Dean and Norah Kate Dean.
