John C. Stone, Sr. 81

John C. Stone, Sr., 81, of Norton formerly of Mansfield died on Tuesday September 30, 2008 in the comfort of his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Alice M. (Quinn) Stone who passed away on August 19, 1994, Mr. and Mrs. Stone were wed on November 23, 1947.
Born in Norwood, MA on September 16, 1927 he was a son of the late Philip H., Sr. and Mary A. (Conroy) Stone.
He grew up in Walpole and attended Walpole Public Schools. In 1945 he enlisted in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged on September 10, 1948 with the rank of Ships Storekeeper Third Class.
Mr. Stone was a retired Machinist and had worked for 30 years at Ingersol-Rand in Walpole prior to retiring.
A communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield John was also a member of the Foxboro VFW. An avid bowler his hobbies included gardening and in recent years he enjoyed watching sports. His favorite times were those spent in the presence of his loving family. John had made his home in Norton for the past 16 years and was a former 27 year resident of Mansfield.
He is survived by his loving children John C. Stone, Jr. of Wrentham, William P. Stone of Fort Worth, Texas, Catherine T. Curry and her husband Bryan of Foxboro and Alice M. Zarrillo and her husband Louis of Norton. He was the brother of Rosalie A. Patchin of Plainville, William Stone of South Dennis and the late Philip H. Stone, Jr., Phyllis E. Williams and Joyce A. Smith. He was the loving grandfather of Daniel J. Stone and his wife Merilee of Midlothian, Texas, Timothy C. Stone, Sr. and his wife Heidi of Midlothian, Texas, David J. Curry of Foxboro and Kaitlin A. Zarrillo of Norton. He was the cherished great grandfather Kaylee P. Stone, Timothy C. Stone, Jr. and Colton J. Stone all of Midlothian, Texas, also survived by his devoted former daughter in law Kathleen A. Stone of Irving, Texas and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday October 4th at 8:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Walpole.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday October 3rd from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
