HARVEY, William E. "Buzz", Sr.- Of Chelsea, died Sunday, September 28th at home after a brief illness at the age of 82. He was the son of the late Gladys (Miliken) and Byron Harvey, lifelong residents of Chelsea. Mr. "Buzz" Harvey was born, raised and educated in Chelsea. He received an honorable discharge from the United States Army in 1945. He was stationed at Fort Devens. While serving during World War II, he was awarded a Bronze Star in the Liberation of the southern Philippines. He was later employed by A.A. Hamburger and Sons in South Boston and the Chelsea Soldiers Home for some 45 years before retiring in 1995.
he is survived by his wife, Lorraine A. (Smith) Harvey of Chelsea, sons, William E. Harvey of Las Vegas, Joseph M. Harvey and Lawrence V. Harvey, both of Chelsea, Gerald F. Harvey of California and the late Alan B. Harvey. Daughters Lorraine M. Harvey and Darlene A. Eskridge both of California and Carol J. Harvey of Chelsea. His sons-in law include Edward V. Roberts and Ottie Eskridge both of California and daughters-in-law Linda Harvey of California and Dorothy Harvey of Las Vegas.
He leaves brothers Pete and Robert Harvey of Roxbury and sisters Alice Harvey-Davis and Laura Gibbs. Deaceased brothers Tony Harvey, Charlie Harvey, Jimmy Harvey and Paul Harvey all fromerly of Roxbury. His grandchildren include William E. Harvey, III, Lawrence V. Harvey, Jr., Joseph Harvey, Jr., Edward V. Roberts, Jr., Patrice F. Harvey, Mechale Eskridge, Sheana M. Harvey, Tamar B. Harvey, Chelsea F. Harvey and great granddaughter Cassidy S. Andreledes. He leaves behind a host of extended family, relatives and many friends.
Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral Service in the Smith Funeral Home, 125 Washington Avenue, CHELSEA on Friday morning, October 3rd at 9:30 AM with the Rev. David Aponte, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Visiting Hours will be held in the Smith Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-8 PM. Services will conclude with interment with Military Honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery on the Grounds of the Otis Air Force Base, Bourne, MA officiated by the Rev. Don Milligan at 12:45 PM.
