Obituary

Joseph James Rogers, II, husband of the late Dorothea (Cardoza) Rogers, died on Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Golden Living - Wedgemere Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was 76.
Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Mary (Ferrie) Rogers.
Educated in Taunton schools, he lived with his family in the Weir section of the city where he worked on his family’s farm before being hired as a kiln operator for the former Hart’s Brick Yard.
He was subsequently employed as a forklift driver for the former Rennie Curtain Factory, where he worked for over nineteen 19 years, retiring in 1993.
From 1952 until 1954, during the Korean Conflict, he served in the National Guard.
He was a member of the Taunton Council on Aging.
Survivors include a son, Joseph M. Rogers and his wife Robyn of New Bedford; two daughters, Regina Marie Vieira and her husband Steve of Taunton, and Anita L. Comfort and her husband George of New Haven, Connecticut; a sister, Linda White of Taunton; his companion, Karen Turgeon of Taunton, five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Russell Rogers.
Private Graveside Services will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery in Taunton at the convenience of the family.
