Obituary

Perry Honeychurch-Hood, 48, formerly Kenneth Hazzard James, died Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at his home, after a decades-long struggle with severe depression. He was the beloved husband of Tom Hood.

Perry grew up in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. Travel and sailing were his passions. He moved to New England to attend college in Boston where he developed many lasting friendships. He travelled widely with Midway Airlines. Later he worked for Harvard University where he earned his ALB degree, cum laude. While earning his Juris Doctorate law degree in 2006 from Massachusetts School of Law at Andover, he also worked at several local institutions involved with research funding, including UMass Lowell Research Foundation, McLean Hospital, and
Tufts Medical Center. For the past six years, Perry and Tom also owned and ran a wedding video business.

Perry and Tom shared their life together for 12 years and were married in 2004. Perry was a talented photographer who loved baking, entertaining, watching oddball movies, and spending time
with family and friends. He was known for his outrageous stories and sense of humor, his personal style, and his love of animals. He was often a source of encouragement and support for
friends and loved ones in need.

Besides his husband, Perry is survived by his mother, Marguerite LaMar of Florida, his dear sister, Tracy James Bingham (St. Croix), brother Jeffrey James (Massachusetts), brother-in-law
Jerry Bingham (St. Croix), sister-in-law Linda James (Mass), nephews John Bingham and Kevin James, nieces Chandra James and Shannon Bingham, his in-laws, Thomas F and Loretta Hood of
Lowell, and Richard and Mary St. Onge of Methuen, and many lifelong friends including Ray Holland of Boston. He was the son of the late John F. James, Esq, of St. Croix.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Visitation at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Saturday, Sept. 27 from 1 to 4pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Perry’s name may be made to the Massachusetts Society of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA) at 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844, www.mspca.org.
