Worcester - Eugene "Spike" Gabis, 61, of 1 South Edlin Street died Monday April 7 after an illness in UMASS Memorial Medical Center - University Campus.
He leaves his wife of 38 years Evelyn M. (Derusha) Condo-Gabis of Worcester; three sons Lance S. Gabis, Keith B. Gabis and Tod E. Gabis; three step-daughters Cathy A. Carlson, Carol J. Condo and Linda M. Frustaci all of Worcester; his mother Helen (Johnson) Gabis of Worcester; a sister Donna Snay of Worcester; 4 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild and several nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by two brothers Walter Gabis and Thomas Gabis and two sisters Sylvia Perrone and Diane Gabis. Mr. Gabis was born in Worcester son of the late Walter Gabis.
He worked as atruck driver for 32 years with Carolina Freight Company and ABF Freight Company. Mr. Gabis was also a member of the Teamsters Local 170.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday April 9 at 2 PM in Hope Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home (www.Royfuneral.com) 12 Hammond St. is directing arrangements.
