Craven, Olivia M. (Bartels)
Of Jamaica Plain, Racing Beach Woods Hole, Milton and Oelwein, Iowa. Loving wife of the late Honorable James J. Craven, Jr. State Representative, Boston. Devoted mother of the Honorable Terry M. Craven and her husband Christopher Aylward of Milton and Sheila R. Doyle and her husband Thomas of Norwood and the late James Michael Craven and his wife Catherine of North Falmouth. Beloved grandmother of Kyla Craven Doyle, Johanna Marie Craven, T.J. Doyle, Molly Rose Doyle and James Michael Craven. Step grandmother of Christopher Michael Aylward and his wife Mary Ellen and step great grandmother of C.J. Aylward. Funeral from the Brady & Fallon Funeral Home 10 Tower St. (Opp. Forest Hills MBTA Station) JAMAICA PLAIN on Friday September 26 at 9:15AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10AM. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours Thursday 3-8 PM. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. Mrs. Craven honorably served in the Women’s Auxiliary Army Corps (WAAC) 1106 Detachment during WWII. She was stationed in the South Pacific on New Guinea, the West Indies and Philippine Islands. She was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, the Philippine Liberation Medal, the American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, 2 Overseas Bars and the WWII Victory Medal. Mrs. Craven was a member of the American Legion Post #76, Jamaica Plain, Disabled Veterans of America and Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. She was a charter member of the Women’s Memorial Foundation in Washington, D.C. Mrs. Craven was a former trustee of the Children’s Museum of Boston, past president of the Jamaica Plain Women’s Club, chairperson for legislation of the City Federation of Women Organization of Boston. She was also a past member of the Boylston Schul-Verein Club. Mrs. Craven was a faithful Red Sox, Patriots, Xaverian Hawk, Norwood Mustang and Falmouth Clippers fan. She loved politics,gardening and driving her Mercedes. Donations in Olivia’s memory may be made to D.A.V., Massachusetts State House, Room 546, Boston MA. 02133.
