
Salem: Carol Ann Poitras, age 66, of Salem, died Friday, September 19, 2008 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, following a brief battle with Cancer.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Charles R. and Dora M. (Harris) Poitras. Carol was a graduate of Ste. Anne School and St. James High School. For many years she worked in the business offices of Parker Brothers Game Co. until the closing of the Salem plant in 1991.
Carol loved to travel, boating, animals and card playing with family and friends. Another hobby of Carol’s was the building and furnishing of doll houses. She was a life long member of Ste. Anne Parish of Salem.
She is survived by 2 sisters: Lorraine D. Sousa and her twin sister Claire J. Poitras both of Salem, 5 nephews: Robert Sousa of Peabody, Richard Sousa of Illinois, John Sousa of Salem, Stephen Sousa of Newburyport, Thomas Sousa of Beverly, 2 nieces: Laurie Green and Lisa Anderson both of Salem. She is also survived by 9 grandnieces and 7 grandnephews. Carol was predeceased by 2 brothers, Charles J. ‘Bill’ Poitras and Robert W. Poitras.
Relatives and friends are invited to her memorial mass on Thursday, September 25, 2008, in Ste. Anne Chruch, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem at 9 am. There will be no visiting hours.
A committal service will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B 102, Danvers, MA 01923.
