Helen Marie Scanlon, a Winchester resident for over 50 years, died on September 20, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lt. Russell H. Francis (died 1945) and John M. Scanlon (died 1986). Born Helen O’Dowd in Boston and raised in North Reading, she was the youngest of five children. She leaves her six children, Paul Francis and wife Linda of Manomet, and his sons Russell and Paul; John Jr., and wife Sarah Savard and their son Liam of Woolwich, ME; Ann Mackey and husband Harrison of Rochester, NH, and daughters Allison and Nicole; Edward and wife Corrine of Weare, NH; Michael and wife Kim of Haverhill and their children Elise and Matthew; and David of Boston. Also survived by two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester on Friday Sept. 26th at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church Winchester at 10AM. Visiting hours will be held on Thurs. from 4-8PM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
