Obituary

Barre – Douglas A. Santimore Sr., 73, of Barre and formerly of Sylvan St. Worcester died on Friday, September 19th, in Saint Vincent Hospital.

Mr. Santimore is survived by his wife Patricia (Devine) Santimore of Barre; three daughters Cheryl Marc and Diane Santimore both of Barre and Jennifer Phillips of Grafton; a brother Andrew Santimore of Worcester; three sisters Irene Sansoucy of Worcester, Faith Kennedy of Auburn and Blanche Lier of Buffalo, NY; 7 grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

He was born in Worcester son of the late Frederick and Alice (Bernier) Santimore and graduated from Worcester Boy’s Trade. Doug served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and is predeceased by a son Douglas A. Santimore Jr. who died in 1998. He is also predeceased by three brothers Earl, Kenneth and Clayton and four sisters Jeannette Dion, Doris Considine, Joan Nestle and Lucille Jacques.

Mr. Santimore worked for over 25 years at the Worcester Housing Authority and retired in 1998. He was a member of the Main South American legion Post #341, the Worcester Lodge of Elks #243, the Knights of Columbus Alhambra Council #88, the Worcester Saint Patrick’s Day Parade Committee and an honorary member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Division #36. Most of all he enjoyed being with his family and friends.

The funeral will be held on Monday, September 22nd from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester with a Mass at 11 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church 1222 Main St. Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Sunday, September 21st from 2 to 5 PM in the funeral home.
