Shelby Branton Lamie, 69, of Ladson, died Thursday morning, September 18, 2008 at her residence.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, September 21, 2008 at 3 o’clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, Summerville. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens, Summerville.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 until 8 o’clock Saturday evening.

Mrs. Lamie was born December 6, 1938 in Summerville, a daughter of the late Andrew and Ethel Winningham Branton. She was a graduate of Summerville High School and Palmer Business College where she was voted Mrs. Palmer College in the early 1960’s. She was an active volunteer with the March of Dimes and the Jerry Lewis MDA Association and the Newberry Boys Farm. She donated artifacts found on Tranquil Hill Plantation to the Summerville Historic Society in honor of her mother Mrs. Ethel Branton. She was a longtime member, Sunday school teacher and pianist for River Bend Baptist Church and she also attended Freedom Free Will Baptist Church.

1 son: Robert Vernon Lamie, III of Ladson
1 daughter: Jeannie Ethel Lamie of Summerville
1 grandson: Joseph Andrew Lamie of Irwin, Texas
2 brothers: Steven Andrew Branton of Ladson and Thomas Lee Branton of Johns Island
She was predeceased by her brother and sister: Holland Branton
and Teena Branton Pokorny (twin sister of Thomas)
