Obituary

L. Fuller Scofield 87, of Needham died April 4, 2003 at the Faulkner Hospital in Boston after a brief illness. Mr. Scofield was born in Melrose and was a longtime resident of Malden and Cape Cod. He attended the Melrose schools and went on to graduate from the Massachusetts Military Academy. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a Major on General MacArthur’s general staff, stationed in New Caledonia and Guadalcanal. Upon return from the service he entered the printing industry and became proficient in all aspects of the trade. He leaves his beloved wife of 62 years, Alice (Montague) Scofield of Needham, his loving children; Lawrence Fuller “Larry” and his wife Suzanne Scofield of Winchester, Pamela and her husband William Torpey of Hingham, Deborah Hennessey of Westwood and Janet and her husband David Lezberg of Needham. He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral from the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave. Needham on Wednesday April 9th at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church at 10:30 AM. Visiting hours at the Eaton Funeral Home on Tuesday 2-4 &-9 PM. Memorial donations may be made to the German Center Alzheimer’s unit Center St. West Roxbury MA.
