Peabody: Alfred S. Hall, III, age 89 of Peabody died Tuesday, September 17, 2008 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. He was the husband of the late Jeannette C. (Gallant) Hall.
Born in Malden and raised in Revere, he was the son of the late Alfred S. Hall, II and Kathryn (Corbett) Hall MacAulay and was the stepson of the late Vincent D. MacAulay.
A Veteran of W.W. II, he served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign with the Army Air Corps. He moved to Salem when he married Jeannette in 1946.
A graduate of Wentworth Institute he was employed by General Electric Turbine Division for 41 years. Al retired from GE in 1982 as a foreman in his division.
Al excelled in woodworking and electronics. His interests were, sports, travel, American History, classic movies and music, especially jazz, big band and swing. He also loved dining out and was a regular at Dube’s in Salem. One of Al’s great thrills was when he was elected to be an Honorary Kentucky Colonel by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
A former resident of Salem, Al moved to Brooksby Village 5½ years ago. He was a member of Ste. Anne Parish of Salem.
He is survived by 4 sons: Stephen V. Hall and his wife Ruth of Salem, Christopher J. Hall of Salem, NH, James P. Hall and his wife Kathleen of Dracut, Thomas R. Hall and his wife Mimi of Brookline, NH, a sister, Elizabeth Mac Rae of Sarasota, FL. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Denise Lee of Salem, Daniel Hall of Salem, Stephen Hall of Marblehead, Heather Hall of Dracut and 2 great-grandchildren: Emma & Matthew Lee of Salem.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 8 am at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem, followed by his funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, Salem at 9 am. Visiting hours: Friday 4 to 8 pm. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B 102, Danvers, MA 01923.
