LEICESTER-Barbara A. (Berg) Hallihan, 63, of 560 Pine Street died April 4th in UMass Memorial Healthcare-Memorial Campus after a short illness. She leaves her husband of 41 years, Robert J. Hallihan; 4 sons, Timothy J. Hallihan of Charlton, Patrick J. and Michael J. Hallihan both of Worcester and James J. Hallihan of Groton, CT; 2 daughters, Kerry A. Obert of Worcester and Jamie A. Brown of Holden; her mother, Ethel V. (Dinsdale) Berg of St. Petersburg, FL; a brother, David E. Berg of S. Jordan, Utah; 2 sisters, Carol Hopkins of Poughkeepsie, NY and Nancy Carlson of St. Petersburg, FL; an aunt, Dorothy Hazen of St. Petersburg, FL; 17 grandchildren; many nephews and nieces.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of Carl E. Berg. She graduated from the former Commerce High School and the former Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse. Mrs. Hallihan worked as a registered nurse for the Masonic Home in Charlton for 21 years. Previously she worked for other area nursing homes. She enjoyed traveling especially to Florida and knitting.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, April 8th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a graveside service at 11:00 AM in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Monday, April 7th from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, Massachusetts, 01104.
