Robert R.C. Shea, 86, of Dartmouth died September 17, 2008 at Sippican Healthcare Center after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Bertha C. (Goncalo) Shea.
Born in Fall River, the son of the late Robert R. and A. Goldena (Kingsley) Shea, he lived in Dartmouth most of his life.
Mr. Shea was an active member and communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church.
He was formerly employed as a stereotyper at the New Bedford Standard-Times for many years until retirement. Mr. Shea was the former president of the Stereotypers Union.
He enjoyed reading and gardening.
Survivors include his wife; 6 sons, Robert R.C. Shea and Paul F. Shea, both of California, Peter Z. Shea, Christopher J. Shea and Jeremy E. Shea, all of Dartmouth and Justin P. Shea of Lakeville; 4 daughters, Kathleen D. Messina of Marion, Deborah A. Shea and Elizabeth K. Souza, both of Dartmouth and Jennifer K. Shapiro of Little Compton; a sister, Gloria Palana of Pawtucket; 24 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Edward Shea.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Saturday, September 20th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Julie Billiart Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River. Visiting hours will be on Friday, September 19th from 5-8 PM.
