Obituary

Helen F. "Yaya" Walsh, 99, of Fairhaven, died December 27, 2001 peacefully at Our Lady's Haven.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Dennis J. and Mary (Byrne) Walsh, she had lived in New Bedford for most of her life and had lived in Fairhaven since 1993.

She was a communicant of St. James Church in New Bedford.

Miss Walsh was formerly employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts with the New Bedford Dept. of Social Services as a social worker until her retirement.

he was a graduate of Holy Family High School and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from Bridgewater Normal School.

Survivors include 4 nieces, Kathleen McGuire of New London, CT, Helen M. Walsh of New Bedford, and Maureen J. Jeffries of Port Orange, FL; a nephew, William M. Walsh of Port Orange; 2 great-nieces, Patricia J. Zukowski of Dartmouth, and Maureen McGuire of West Hartford, CT; and 3 great-nephews, Mark R. Jeffries of Dartmouth, Matthew Jeffries of Port Orange, and John D. Jeffries of Wellesley Hills.She was the sister of the late Sylvester Walsh, D. Joseph Walsh, William M. Walsh, Francis Walsh, Catherine Walsh, Mary Margaret Walsh and Margaret Walsh.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass at Our Lady's Haven Chapel, 71 Center St., Fairhaven, Monday, December 31st at 11 AM. Visiting hours at the Saunders-Dwyer Funeral Home, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Sunday 1-3 PM.

Interment St. Mary's Cemetery

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Diocesan Health Facilities, 368 N. Main St., Fall River, MA 02720 or to the charity of one's choice.
