West Springfield, Ma. – Walter J. Morrissey, Jr. 81, died Monday September 15th at the family residence.
Walter was born in Andover where he was a graduate of Punchard High, and served as the captain of the Punchard High School Basketball Team.
He was the son of the late Walter J. Morrissey, and Catherine A. (McCormack) Morrissey.
From high school he enlisted into the United States Navy where he served on the Carrier Midway prior to being honorably discharged at wars end.
For many years he worked for the New England Telephone Company as a Telephone Technician before his retirement.
Walter was a member of the pioneers of America.
The widower of Anne (Gaffny) Morrissey he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law; Kathleen and Michael M. Morini of West Springfield, Ma., a grandson Michael Morrissey Morini of Brooklyn, NY, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will take place on Friday morning at 11:30 from the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc. 233 Lawrence St. in Methuen with burial to follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday morning from 10:00 – 11:15 AM at the funeral home.
