Mrs. Maggie Hayes Coker, 94, of Fitzgerald, died Monday, September 15, 2008, at Dorminy Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Thursday, September 18 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Rev. Jimmy Cargle and Rev. Bobby Richey officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be held 7-9 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Coker was born July 10, 1914 in Cordele to the late Joseph J. and Jewel Driver Hayes. She moved to Fitzgerald in 1973 and was a former employee of the garment factory in Rochelle. Mrs. Coker was a member of Westside Baptist Church, where she was a former Senior Ladies Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Golden Harvesters Sunday School Class at Westside and a member of the Friendship Club.
Mrs. Coker is survived by a daughter & son-in-law, Jean & Earnest Parrish of Hahira; sons and daughters-in-law, Bernard & Quinnelle Coker of Fitzgerald, Richard & Ann Coker of Haddock and Robert Coker, Jr. of Pitts; 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren; sister, Floy Walker of Ashville, NC as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, four brothers and a daughter-in-law, Janice Coker.
