Hazel (Poignand) Wood Donnelly, 96, of Norwood, MA, formerly of Westport passed away Sunday, September 14, 2008 at Ellis Nursing Center. She was wife of the late Arnold Wood and the late James Donnelly.
Born in Methuen, MA, daughter of the late Alfred and Helen (Fieldhouse) Poignand, she grew up in Methuen until getting married and moving to Pawtucket, RI and then moving to Pine Point, ME where she was a co-owner of the Moorings Cottages. A 1932 graduate of the Lawrence General Hospital Nursing School, she was a registered nurse at Pawtucket Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Donnelly was a member of the Westport Point United Methodist Church, the Westport Womens Club and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed crafts and cooking for family and friends.
Survivors include a son: Sidney B. Wood of Dedham, MA; 6 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.
She was mother of the late Stephen N. Wood and Robert A. Wood, step-mother of the late Joanne Vaughan and sister of the late Eric Poignand.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, September 22, 2008 at the Westport Point United Methodist Church, 1912 Main Rd., Westport Point, MA at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours 4 - 7 P.M. Sunday, at the Potter Funeral Home.
Interment in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Methuen.
