Emilio Rossi, of Malden, died Saturday at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was 78.
Mr. Rossi was born and raised in Anzano, Italy, the son of the late Rocco and the late Rosaria (DeGregorio) Rossi. He came to the United States as a young man and lived in the North End and Somerville before settling in Malden 35 years ago. Until his retirement he worked as a construction laborer with Local 22. He was a member of the Madonna di Anzano Society in Boston’s North End. Emilio was above all devoted to his family and a friend to many.
He was the beloved husband of Filomena (Auciello) Rossi. He was a devoted father to Rocco Rossi and his wife Catherine of Wrentham, Rose Carbone and her late husband John, Anna Copa and her husband Peter all of Malden, Gracy Auciello and her husband Mario of Wilmington. He was a loving grandfather to Angela Fazio, John Carbone, Danielle DiFronzo, Leanna Copa, Louis Auciello, Michael Auciello and Peter Copa. He was the dear brother of the late Francesco Rossi, Lucia DeStefano, Constantine Rossi and Maria DeStefano.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St. Medford, Wednesday at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family Tuesday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with entombment at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, Malden.
