PONDER, TX: Eduino Leonel da Rosa, age 66, formerly of Gloucester, died Sunday, September 7, 2008 in Denton, Texas. He was the husband of Maria (Serpa) da Rosa. They have resided in Texas since 2003.
Born in Faial, Azores, Portugal in 1941, he was the son of the late Eduino and Zulmira da Rosa.
Mr. da Rosa immigrated to the United States in 1975 from Mozambique, Africa, where he was a soldier in the Portuguese Army. While residing in Gloucester, he was employed as a house painter and factory worker.
In addition to his wife of forty-seven years, he is survived by his children, Antonio “Tony” da Rosa of IN, Maria Hile of NY, Francisco “Frank” da Rosa of TX and Noemia “Amy” da Rosa of Gloucester, fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his son, Norberto S. da Rosa.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday morning in the Our Lady of Good Voyage Church at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. Interment will be held in the Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester.
