CHESTER, NH—George J. Lyons, 78 years old, a former resident of Lowell, died Friday morning April 4th, at his home in Chester, NH.
He was born in Lowell, on July 8, 1924, a son of the late George M. and Marion (McPherson) Lyons, and was a graduate of St. Michael’s Grammar School and Lowell High School.
Mr. Lyons was employed as a Maintenance Mechanic by the New England Telephone Company in the Lowell Garage for over 30 years.
Surviving him are his brother and sister-in-law: John F. and Angela Lyons, of Dracut; nieces and nephews: Christine (Lyons) Eliopoulos, and her husband Peter, of Methuen; Jennifer (Lyons) Whitney and her husband Todd, of Amherst, NH; John Lyons, and his wife Sharon, of Chicago, IL; and Thomas Lyons and his wife Susan, of Dracut; seven grandnieces and one grandnephew; several cousins; also dear friends with whom he resided: Christine and Richard Dyson, and their sons: Timothy and Zachary, of Senator Bell Farm, in Chester NH.
Friends may call from 4 until 8 PM on Sunday, April 6th, at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38), Lowell, MA. His Funeral Mass to be offered Monday morning, April 7th, at 10 AM at St. Marguerite D’Youville Parish, St. Theresa’s Church, Dracut. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell.
