Worcester—Warren Brandt, 95, died on Friday, Sept. 12th. He was born in Hartford, CT, and lived his entire life in Worcester. He was the husband of the late Kathleen (Laycock) Brandt; father of Richard Brandt and his wife Geri of Worcester; brother of Helen Gonyea of Charlton; brother of Virginia Decataldi and her husband Louis “Stretch” of Southbridge; brother-in-law of Anna, wife of his deceased brother Peter “Babe” of Worcester. He also leaves two grandchildren, Wendy and her husband Willem and Jeff and his wife Lauren.
His main working life was spent at the former Norton Co., now Saint-Gobain, where he was Supervisor of Central Service Repair until his retirement. Fellow employees will remember his sincere concern for the Worcester Blood Bank. He persuaded so many employees, even taking by the hand the ladies that were apprehensive, that Norton Co. designated a December drive “Warren Brandt Days.” The response of 518 pints of blood collected was the largest blood donation ever made by employees of an Industrial firm in Central Massachusetts. He received a special plaque for this endeavor. He kept up with current events by watching the news and reading the Worcester Telegram every day. His main concern was, “How are all those elderly ladies going to stay warm this winter?” Now he can wrap his arms around his main lady, Kathleen, who died only last year and keep her warm forever. He was lost without her. I’LL TAKE YOU HOME AGAIN KATHLEEN, a song and now a fulfillment of his life, for the love of his life. P EACE AND LOVE TO YOU BOTH.
