Mrs. Effie Marie Royston, 71, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Friday, September 12, 2008 at her residence.
Memorial services will be held at a later date with inurnment at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Paris, Virginia.
Mrs. Royston was born July 30, 1937 in Madison County, Virginia to the late Doley C. and Goldie C. Nicholson. She was a graduate of Warren County High School in Warren County, VA and received her L.P.N. license from Winchester Memorial Hospital in Winchester, VA. Mrs. Royston retired as an L.P.N. from Rose Hill Nursing Home in Berryville, VA. She was a member of the Women of Moose and a member of the Riverton United Methodist Church, both in Riverton, VA. She and her husband moved to the Fitzgerald community three years ago.
Mrs. Royston is survived by her husband of 27 years: William Walter "Bill" Royston of Fitzgerald; two sons: Acrey E. Nicholson of Frederick County, Virginia and Richard Ramey of Charlottesville, Virginia; four step-children, William M. Royston of Maryland, Cynthia Lee of Alvey, Maryland, Thomas M. Royston of Colorado and Margaret M. Ely of Maryland; six grandchildren: Mary Elizabeth Ramey, Ryan E. Ramey, James Robert Shields, Steven Shane Poe, Acrey E. “Nick” Nicholson, III and Jacob L. Nicholson; four step-grandchildren; one sister: Betty Emmons of Winchester, Virginia; one brother: Doley C. Nicholson of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan; and a nephew: Anthony Nicholson of Michigan. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter: Cynthia Shields and two sisters: Bernice Bloom and Dolly Merchant.
