Winston-Salem – James Marvin Chandler, Jr., 58, formerly of Louisville, Kentucky went to be with his heavenly Father Thursday, September 11, 2008.
He was born February 22, 1950 in Louisville, Kentucky to Wanola Huff Chandler and the late James Marvin Chandler, Sr.
Mr. Chandler was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, NC since 1986, where he had served as a Deacon, and Sunday school teacher. He retired from P. Lorillard Tobacco Co. in Greensboro, NC after 30 years of employment.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a beloved sister, JoAnn Callahan.
In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife Sharon K. Chandler of the home; a daughter, Amanda Gatewood and husband Jonathan of Kernersville; a son, Jeremy Chandler of Winston Salem; two grandchildren, Payton and Layla Grayce; his mother and father-in-law, Eugene and Louise Kitchen; a brother-in-law, Mike Kitchen; two nephews, Kevin Callahan and Dylan Kitchen; a niece, Danielle Kitchen.
Jimmy was a humble servant of God, a loving and faithful husband, and father, and a proud and devoted papaw.
Funeral services will be 2:00pm Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway.
The family will receive friends from 5-9pm Monday, September 15, 2008 and Tuesday, 11-2:00 pm at the funeral home.
