Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Leslie L. Wile, 90, of 60 Poplar Street, died peacefully Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Frances C. (Doucette) Wile.
Born in Gloucester on April 15, 1918, he was the son of the late James E. and Hilda P. (Wile) Wile. He was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and a graduate of Gloucester High School class of 1938. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Capt. Lester S. Wass Post #3, American Legion and the Doucette-Linguard V.F.W. Post #1624. He was also a member of the Purple Heart Organization, the 5th Armored Division Association and the Cape Ann Chapter No.1471 Loyal Order of Moose.
Leslie was employed as a custodian in the Gloucester public schools for several years before his retirement in 1983. He had also worked for the former McHenry Oil Company in Gloucester for twenty-four years.
In addition to his wife of sixty-six years, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Leslie L. and F. Maynard Tucker, III of Gloucester, three grandchildren, Daniel N. and his wife, Shelley (Christie) Tucker of Berea, KY and Carrie L. and Jennifer L. Tucker both of Gloucester, four great-grandchildren, Joshua, Samuel and Meghan Tucker all of Berea, KY and Sianna Tucker of Gloucester and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by two brothers, James and Everett Wile and his sister, Theresa Mello.
His funeral services will be held on Monday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 1 – 4 p.m. Interment will be held in the Beechbrook Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the VNA Care Network & Hospice, 5 Federal St., Danvers, MA 01923.
