Shrewsbury—Juliette (Surabian) Grillo, 80, died Thursday, September 11, 2008 in her home surrounded by her loving children. She now joins her husband, Peter J. Grillo, who died in 1973. She leaves two daughters, Mary A. and her husband William Orfalea, with whom she lived, Diana M. and her husband Dr. Robert Babigian and a son, Peter Grillo and his wife Susan - all of Shrewsbury. Seven grandchildren: Robert, Christopher, and Ariana Babigian; Alicia and Billy Orfalea; and Peter and Tiffani Grillo. Three brothers, Martin Surabian of Craigville, MA, Andrew Surabian, and Harry “Butch” Surabian; a sister, Surapi Bezdegian, all of Worcester. A brother, Stephen Surabian, predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of Solomon and Mary (Harootunian) Surabian. Julie was a loving and dedicated daughter, mother, and grandmother and was happiest spending time with her family. She was a member of the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, sang in the choir and belonged to the Ladies’ Guild. She was a member of the Shrewsbury Senior Center. She loved helping others and traveling on senior trips. The family would like to thank the Christopher House and the UMass Memorial Hospice for their exceptional care.
Funeral services will be held at the Armenian Church of Our Saviour at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 15. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours will be at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday. A Dahngark Service will be held at 6:30.
